Barack Obama is the new president of the USA. He has got the most votes from the American people.
Barack Obama is also the first black president. Only 50 years ago, life was different for black people in America. They did not have the same rights as white people. Now, a black person has the most important job in the country – and in the world!
Obama will become President of the USA on 20 January 2009. He will move to the White House in Washington D.C. with his family.
Obama’s first promise was to his two daughters, Sasha and Malia. He said: “You can have a new puppy to come with us to the White House.”
